Psalm 89:19 (18) for our shield comes from Adonai —
our king is from the Holy One of Isra’el.
20 (19) There was a time when you spoke in a vision;
you declared to your loyal [prophets],
“I have given help to a warrior,
I have raised up someone chosen from the people.
21 (20) I have found David my servant
and anointed him with my holy oil.
22 (21) My hand will always be with him,
and my arm will give him strength.
23 (22) No enemy will outwit him,
no wicked man overcome him.
24 (23) I will crush his foes before him
and strike down those who hate him.
25 (24) My faithfulness and grace will be with him;
through my name his power will grow.
26 (25) I will put his hand on the sea
and his right hand on the rivers.
27 (26) He will call to me, ‘You are my father,
my God, the Rock of my salvation.’
28 (27) I will give him the position of firstborn,
the highest of the kings of the earth.
29 (28) I will keep my grace for him forever,
and in my covenant be faithful with him.
30 (29) I will establish his dynasty forever,
and his throne as long as the heavens last.
31 (30) “If his descendants abandon my Torah
and fail to live by my rulings,
32 (31) if they profane my regulations
and don’t obey my mitzvot,
33 (32) I will punish their disobedience with the rod
and their guilt with lashes.
34 (33) But I won’t withdraw my grace from him
or be false to my faithfulness.
35 (34) I will not profane my covenant
or change what my lips have spoken.
36 (35) I have sworn by my holiness once and for all;
I will not lie to David —
37 (36) his dynasty will last forever,
his throne like the sun before me.
38 (37) It will be established forever, like the moon,
which remains a faithful witness in the sky.” (Selah)

In Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne is a young orphan who had never had a close personal friend, someone with whom she could share her deepest secrets. That changed when she moved to Avonlea and met Diana. The two became the best of friends, with a closeness that seemed like it would last forever. Inevitably circumstances changed. Other priorities came into their lives and eventually, they became less involved in each other’s life.
Most of us can remember “best friends” from our younger years whom we seldom, if ever, hear from any longer. In contrast to our human relationships that come and go, God’s promise to David was that He would love David forever! There would never come a time when David would not be loved by God. What a promise!
The truth is that God longs to hold each one of us in that kind of relationship; one that would never spoil or fade. His Word reminds us that nothing “in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39b). That’s a promise we can count on.

Hymn for Today:
"I Know God's Promise Is True" by Lelia N. Morris
1. For God so loved this sinful world,
His Son He freely gave,
That whosoever would believe
Eternal life should have.
Refrain:
’Tis true, oh, yes, ’tis true,
God’s wonderful promise is true;
For I’ve trusted, and tested, and tried it,
And I know God’s promise is true.
2. I was a wayward, wand’ring child,
A slave to sin and fear,
Until this blessed promise fell
Like music on my ear.
Refrain:
’Tis true, oh, yes, ’tis true,
God’s wonderful promise is true;
For I’ve trusted, and tested, and tried it,
And I know God’s promise is true.
3. The “whosoever” of the Lord,
I trusted was for me,
I took Him at His gracious word;
From sin He set me free.
Refrain:
’Tis true, oh, yes, ’tis true,
God’s wonderful promise is true;
For I’ve trusted, and tested, and tried it,
And I know God’s promise is true.
4. Eternal life, begun below,
Now fills my heart and soul;
I’ll sing His praise forevermore
Who has redeemed my soul.
Refrain:
’Tis true, oh, yes, ’tis true,
God’s wonderful promise is true;
For I’ve trusted, and tested, and tried it,
And I know God’s promise is true.
My sheep wandered around aimlessly on every mountain and hill; yes, my sheep were scattered all over the land, with no one to search for them or look after them.
“‘Therefore, shepherds, hear the word of Adonai:(Ezekiel 34:6b-7a).
Please pray:
That many people in Dominica will come to know Yeshua the Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
