Wednesday Night Live. Join us Wednesday, September 13, @ 7p in the Ministry Mall for our continuing exploration of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Led by Dr. 3 and the Pastoral Team, we wrestle with what the Bible says, the cultural context, people, places of the time and what it means for us today. Please read Numbers 24-28 for next week's study.
GOSPEL CONCERT
FAITH DEVELOPMENT
Senior Fitness & Bible Study. Join us at the Paseo Campus every Wednesday from 11-11:30a for light to moderate exercise done from the comfort of a chair! A trained fitness expert will guide you through exercises that help strengthen you, and the fellowship will help motivate you. Then, stay for Bible Study from 11:30a -12:30p and get strengthened in the spirit! Feel free to bring a dish and join us in the potluck lunch following our study time.
Bible Study at Renaissance. Join us Tuesday at 6:30p for Bible study at the Renaissance Campus. There is food, fellowship and the Word. Come out and grow with your church family!
Sunday School. There are three adult Sunday school classes offered this summer at St. James Paseo Campus. The classes are the Women's Sundaychool class, The Mixed Adult's Sunday school class, and the Men's Sunday school class.
CONGREGATIONAL CARE
Christian Sympathy is extended to the family of Lynda Tanner, sister of Angel Courtney Nyakatura.Acknowledgements were received from the families of Susie Mae (Pouncil) Johnson, aunt of Pamela Paul; and Leroy Page, brother of Wandra Green and uncle of Dana Middleton.
GriefShare. No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. The St. James GriefShare Support Ministry provides help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend and in a safe and confidential place that helps to put lives back together again. We will walk with you on the path through grief toward healing and hope for the future. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives. GriefShare is comprised of a video seminar series that features some of the nation's foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective coupled with support group discussions of these presentations. GriefShare Support Group sessions will be hosted every Thursday at 6:00p for 12 weeks. Prayer Class. Learn to build your prayer skills and deepen your faith development with Helen Walker every 4th Sunday at 10:15 am Paseo Campus - Vaughan Chapel. The next class will be held on this Sunday, September 22.
Compassionate Care. When you experience illness, the death of a loved one or if you would like prayer, we want to know so that we may provide compassion, encouragement and comfort during life's challenges. HURICANE HARVEY
In an effort to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, St James UMC will host a City Wide Prayer Service in the Sanctuary, Wednesday, September 13 at 7p and we will be preparing Hygiene and Cleaning kits for those impacted by the devastation. This will be a long-term recovery effort and United Methodists will be asked to help support recovery efforts for years to come. We are seeking participants and community partners in this collaborative endeavor. For additional information please contact Director of Community Connections Yvette Richards at 816-802-8234.

Make a Difference: Racial Justice Gathering. United Methodist Women invite you to join a timely and discussion on racial justice. Judge Ardie Bland, Municipal Court Judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri will be a featured guest. "Seeking Justice" on Sunday, September 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Asbury UMC (5400 W 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208) is an opportunity to engage and commit with others to continue the essential work to bring racial justice into everyday consciousness. YOUTH SHOWCASE 2. Saturday, September 9th at 3p Go out in support of one of our partner youth programs. Legacy Arts Theater has been working with youth at our Renaissance campus, and they'd love to see you at UMKC Student Union Theater in the Student Union at 5100 Cherry. Allies for Racial Justice Cookout. Congregants from Church of the Resurrection and St James will enjoy a time of fellowship as we come together on our continued mission for racial justice. Public Hearing: JUVENILE COURT LISTENING SESSION Saturday, September 16th, 9a-11a at Paseo Academy (4747 Flora Ave) the Supreme Court of Missouri's Commission on Racial & Ethnic Fairness will host a forum to learn about and provide feedback for recommendations to the Supreme Court. RSVP HERE!

The Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group will officially begin its new program year with our Founder's Day Program addressing the 2017 "The Crisis in Black Education" on Sunday, September 17th at the Black Archives of Mid-America.
