Dear Jesus,
You are graced filled and graceful. You are good and you are generous. We pray for the world and we pray for our United Methodist Church.
Please grant your grace and peace that passes all our understanding. May your spirit lead our world to experience healing. May our own brokenness be healed that we might help heal the broken world.
By your Holy Spirit, remind us that with you—nothing is impossible. May we individually experience hope—that the United Methodist Church might experience hope. By your spirit lead your world into hope.
God, we ask that you, through the anointing of your Holy Spirit, to empower the United Methodist Church to fulfill its purpose of making new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. God, we ask that through your Holy Spirit, you to guide the Council of Bishops and the Commission on The Way Forward to walk in your will. Direct us to the church you desire us to be—for the sake of the community and the world.
Send your Holy Spirit. Thank you for covering us with your grace. Thank you for friends, family, and church. Give us a spirit of humility; and, forgive us when we hold our opinions so tightly that we deny the possibility we could be wrong. Free us to find a way forward. Amen.
