We received this message from the Duclos's in North West Haiti concerning the October 6th, 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered in Port-de-Paix about 20 miles from their home:
“It was a big one, the very next day there were 3 other quakes. I will give you more details about casualties and deaths, especially in Port-de-Paix, when I get them. Even internet signals are totally affected. We are fine but many people evacuated their homes for safety reasons. Therefore, we were considered as an evacuation place, a refuge for many.
We don't know the exact number of deaths but many of our church's families have lost close family members in Port-de-Paix. Many of the church buildings have broken walls including our storage building.”

Please pray for the Duclos and the people of Haiti
and please give if you are able.

Antony & Marietta
Beginning Their Third Year in Haiti
The mission in north west Haiti continues to be a huge success by having full time missionaries Antony & Marietta Duclos on the ground for the last two years in Bouflette. The sheep program is going strong and has extended now to eight churches with over 120 sheep gifted to those in most need across the district. Fifteen churches have had our mobile clinic come visit with a trained nurse, supplies and medication. Many hundreds have benefited from care in some of the most remote areas of the district.
A recent team from the Southern California District of the Nazarene helped with a four day teachers training conference. As well they led a wonderful one day children's event (see below) where over 300 children from across the district gathered to play games, hear bible teaching and when they left, every child received a bible. The team also visited two remote churches and held a medical clinic. They also helped start two new church shop projects (see below), bringing much needed income for these remote communities.

Sheep Program
Update from Lacoma Church

On our recent team trip we had the great joy of visiting Lacoma church of the Nazarene for a Sunday service. Pastor Jeff Mosley shared a message to the congregation as we spent the morning in worship with our Haitian brothers and sisters. It was a deeply moving occasion and really a thrill to visit with the Pastor and his family. He shared what a blessing the sheep program had been and that the sheep were beginning to produce offspring to help other families in the community.
Shop Program
Sustainable Funding

Simple business solutions can provide funding for a family or church community. Churches struggle to pay their pastors and school teachers have very little income. A shop can provide a simple, consistent income that can subsidize the church school and other needs of the community. The day to day running and finances of the shop are overseen by the church board and the District Superintendent. They make the decisions on how the funds are spent and oversee the efficient running for the shop. We have found it to be an effective way to provide help without hurting the community. The basic cost of a shop is $2,500-$4,000; this includes solar power & batteries, cooler or freezer and merchandise.
Adult Training
Sewing and Tailoring Class
The adult training school in Bouflette provides classes on sewing and tailoring to students from across the region. These valuable skills are an incredible blessing for families, that can provide a life saving income in the economically impoverished north west of Haiti. For just $10 per month students come three times a week, get a meal and lodging, along with these valuable skills.
