The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States - Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, September 15, 2017

Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope all is well with you and that you're doing well this Friday morning. I am thrilled by all that's happening at RezDT. It seems like something new and exciting is happening each week and I have to tell you, that in and of itself is a reminder of the great privilege I have to serve Christ with you here in this city. One of the things that really excited me this week was the launch of ourDisciple 1 Bible Study. On Monday evening we had more than 30 people attend our very first of this fantastic 24-session Bible study. Matt Bisel is leading this effort for our church and it is surely going to be a transformational study drawing people deeper into a Scriptural faith. At the same time we have several new studies coming on line in the weeks ahead, but one I want you to check out is our Positive Parenting Course starting on Sunday, September 24th. Please see below for more information. It's also worth mentioning that our Women's Breakfast Series kicked off with nearly 50 women and on Tuesday night we had 22 new people who said, 'Yes!' gather together to train for their new roles as KidsCOR volunteers. (This is the first of three groups receiving training as new KidsCOR volunteers!) It has been an awesome week to say the least!
This weekend will be another great weekend as we gather together on Saturday morning for Faithwork Saturday! Invite friends and join us as we go out into the city to spend the day putting our faith to work from 9am to Noon. Then come back on Saturday night and all day Sunday for worship as we continue our look at Simon Peter and his threefold profession of love.
Lastly, it's worth noting that our construction crews have hcompleted the majority portion of our concrete work this week. Please continue to pray for this project, for our city and for all of the men and women who are working on our new church building.
Happy Friday and God's Peace,
Pastor Scott

Upcoming Events & Activities
Here are a few things happening soon in the life of the church.
Faithwork
Saturday September 16 | 9am | 1522 McGee
Join us for this introduction to the faith community through service work with RezDT! Faithworkis specifically designed for you to invite non-and nominally religious people in your life into a non-threatening service environment. Our faith and experience is that this service will lead them into a journey of deeply knowing, loving and serving God. No fees, no commitments, no pressure to do anything beyond the invitation and showing up for a morning of service! RezDT and God will take care of the rest! When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with coffee and donuts, you’ll learn about and pick a community partner to serve with for a couple hours, then you’ll go discover how God is at work in Kansas City through our partnership. Growing in community before and after our service is just as important as the service itself so we hope you’ll join us for lunch to share about the experiences you have had and discover the next steps in your faith journey. Details about lunch will be shared before you set out on your Faithwork for the day. Please contactPatrick.Mclaughlin@cor.org with any questions, or visit cor.org/downtown/faithwork
