---
What is happiness worth? Well, for at least one person, it's worth about $1.56 million.
That's how much an anonymous collector paid for a hand written note from Albert Einstein. (The initial auction price was $8000!)
Einstein left the note for his room attendant at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo. The attendant refused to accept a monetary tip from Einstein. So Einstein wrote his "theory of happiness" for him, and left it on the bedside table.
The note reads, "A calm and humble life will bring more happiness than the pursuit of success and the constant restlessness that comes with it."
How true. We all know people who may seem successful on the outside yet filled with turmoil within.
Moses was different. He did not seek fame or success. He rejected God's call when God first appeared to him.
But soon he discovered God's will. And he simply sought to follow it.
The Torah describes him as the "most humble man on earth."
A collector may have paid $1.56 million for Einstein's letter. But you can't put a price on peace of mind.
Warmly, Rabbi Evan
P.S.: There is a price for my new book, but it's pretty low. The Happiness Prayer is available on Amazon right here.
