Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Foundry Publishing House of Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The Global Church of the Nazarene for Thursday, 12 October 2017 "Cleaned and Employed" by Amy Crofford - Romans 5:12-21
Romans 5:12 Here is how it works: it was through one individual that sin entered the world, and through sin, death; and in this way death passed through to the whole human race, inasmuch as everyone sinned. 13 Sin was indeed present in the world before Torah was given, but sin is not counted as such when there is no Torah. 14 Nevertheless death ruled from Adam until Moshe, even over those whose sinning was not exactly like Adam’s violation of a direct command. In this, Adam prefigured the one who was to come.
15 But the free gift is not like the offence. For if, because of one man’s offence, many died, then how much more has God’s grace, that is, the gracious gift of one man, Yeshua the Messiah, overflowed to many! 16 No, the free gift is not like what resulted from one man’s sinning; for from one sinner came judgment that brought condemnation; but the free gift came after many offences and brought acquittal. 17 For if, because of the offence of one man, death ruled through that one man; how much more will those receiving the overflowing grace, that is, the gift of being considered righteous, rule in life through the one man Yeshua the Messiah!
18 In other words, just as it was through one offence that all people came under condemnation, so also it is through one righteous act that all people come to be considered righteous. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man, many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the other man, many will be made righteous. 20 And the Torah came into the picture so that the offence would proliferate; but where sin proliferated, grace proliferated even more. 21 All this happened so that just as sin ruled by means of death, so also grace might rule through causing people to be considered righteous, so that they might have eternal life, through Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord.
I want Thee forever to live in my soul;
Break down every idol, cast out every foe;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain: Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
2. Lord Jesus, let nothing unholy remain,
Apply Thine own blood and extract every stain;
To get this blest cleansing I all things forego;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain: Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
3. Lord Jesus, look down from Thy throne in the skies,
And help me to make a complete sacrifice;
I give up myself and whatever I know;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain: Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
4. Lord Jesus, for this I most humbly entreat;
I wait, blessed Lord, at Thy crucified feet;
By faith, for my cleansing I see Thy blood flow;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain: Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
5. Lord Jesus, Thou seest I patiently wait;
Come now, and within me a new heart create;
To those who have sought Thee Thou never saidst, No;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain: Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Romans 5:1 So, since we have come to be considered righteous by God because of our trust, let us continue to have shalom with God through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. 2 Also through him and on the ground of our trust, we have gained access to this grace in which we stand; so let us boast about the hope of experiencing God’s glory. 3 But not only that, let us also boast in our troubles; because we know that trouble produces endurance, 4 endurance produces character, and character produces hope; 5 and this hope does not let us down, because God’s love for us has already been poured out in our hearts through the Ruach HaKodesh who has been given to us.Romans 5:12 Here is how it works: it was through one individual that sin entered the world, and through sin, death; and in this way death passed through to the whole human race, inasmuch as everyone sinned. 13 Sin was indeed present in the world before Torah was given, but sin is not counted as such when there is no Torah. 14 Nevertheless death ruled from Adam until Moshe, even over those whose sinning was not exactly like Adam’s violation of a direct command. Imagine what it would be like if we did not have easy access to water for bathing and washing clothes. These conditions exist in many world areas that experience a serious lack of water. Droughts force people, usually women and children, to walk for many kilometers to acquire potable water. Soaking in hot water is an unknown luxury. In Niger, a proverb meaning “I love you” is literally translated, “I accept your smell.”
God loves us just as we are. He cannot, however, allow us to enter His presence when we stink of sin. King David modelled a contrite heart, writing: “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow” (Psalm 51:7). What cleans us? The blood of the Lamb. Once we are clean, God has a work for us to do.
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15). We radiate the very scent of God that indicates our family relationship and attracts others to the kingdom.

The Hymn for Today:
"Whiter Than Snow" by James Nicholson
1. Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole,I want Thee forever to live in my soul;
Break down every idol, cast out every foe;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain: Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.

Thought for Today:
God put Yeshua forward as the kapparah for sin through his faithfulness in respect to his bloody sacrificial death. This vindicated God’s righteousness; because, in his forbearance, he had passed over [with neither punishment nor remission] the sins people had committed in the past;(Romans 3:25a).

Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Foundry Publishing House of Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The Global Church of the Nazarene for Wednesday, 11 October 2017 "Power Tools" by Amy Crofford - Romans 5:1-11
6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time, the Messiah died on behalf of ungodly people. 7 Now it is a rare event when someone gives up his life even for the sake of somebody righteous, although possibly for a truly good person one might have the courage to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in that the Messiah died on our behalf while we were still sinners. 9 Therefore, since we have now come to be considered righteous by means of his bloody sacrificial death, how much more will we be delivered through him from the anger of God’s judgment! 10 For if we were reconciled with God through his Son’s death when we were enemies, how much more will we be delivered by his life, now that we are reconciled! 11 And not only will we be delivered in the future, but we are boasting about God right now, because he has acted through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, through whom we have already received that reconciliation.

The use of tools is a sign of intelligence. When scientists evaluate the potential of animals, it is a deciding factor in their ranking. Dolphins, dogs, and elephants use tools, as do many other creatures. They are used for grooming, gathering food, and collecting water.
We also use implements, which are constantly being improved. Think of the advancements that have occurred in your own lifetime. We can get news faster and travel more easily. E-readers and internet-based communication are common. Space flight is routine and barely covered in the news. Those who would have been limited before have machines that make life easier. Older people can continue active lives with the aid of recent discoveries. The science fiction of our youth is becoming reality startlingly quickly.
For all the tools we have, there are still things that we cannot do, and never will do. Without God, we can be intelligent, but not wise. We cannot rid ourselves of sin. It is possible to be moral and act within social mores; however, we are powerless to deep-clean our hearts. There is no tool or app for that. We need the sacrifice of Jesus.

Hymn for Today:
"I Need Thee Every Hour" by Annie S. Hawks
1. I need thee every hour,
most gracious Lord;
no tender voice like thine
can peace afford.
Refrain: I need thee, O I need thee,
every hour I need thee.
O bless me now, my Savior;
I come to thee.
2. I need thee every hour;
stay thou near by;
temptations lose their power
when thou art nigh.
Refrain: I need thee, O I need thee,
every hour I need thee.
O bless me now, my Savior;
I come to thee.
3. I need thee every hour,
in joy or pain;
come quickly and abide,
or life is vain.
Refrain: I need thee, O I need thee,
every hour I need thee.
O bless me now, my Savior;
I come to thee.
4. I need thee every hour;
teach me thy will;
and thy rich promises
in me fulfill.
Refrain: I need thee, O I need thee,
every hour I need thee.
O bless me now, my Savior;
I come to thee.
5. I need thee every hour,
Most Holy One;
O make me thine indeed,
thou Blessed Son!
Refrain: I need thee, O I need thee,
every hour I need thee.
O bless me now, my Savior;
I come to thee.
Thought for Today:
If we acknowledge our sins, then, since he is trustworthy and just, he will forgive them and purify us from all wrongdoing.(1 John 1:9}
Please pray:
That many people in Mexico will come to know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh. May the people affected by the earthquake and poverty find hope in Yeshua as their Messiah who will provide all their needs and guide them to fulfill who they are to be in Him.
