The United Methodist Church Prays of Nashville, Tennessee, United States for Sunday, 22 October 2017 "Rooted and Grounded in Your Great Love"
SUNDAY,
OCTOBER 22, 2017
During this week of October 22-28, the Mississippi Annual Conference with Bishop James E. Swanson Sr. leads the United Methodist Church in praying for the Commission on a Way Forward. The conference offers us this prayer:

We pray for the faith we need to place our trust in you and in your way forward for us,
that even when that way remains unclear before us, we might remain at peace in you.
Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
We pray for the Commission on a Way Forward,
as they seek your word to the United Methodist Church,
that they might receive wisdom and knowledge, rest and renewal, encouragement and guidance;
that in the study of Scripture; the sharing of the bread and cup; through prayer and through pilgrimage;
in the fellowship of Love divine and love embodied, your way forward for us might be made clear.
Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.
We pray for the United Methodist Church, and for the Church universal, that we might be one in our witness to your world, rooted and grounded in your great love, which is made known to us through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Join the Mississippi Conference every day this week in prayer and scripture reading for our church. The prayer guide can be found here.

Mississippi Conference Leads Denomination in Week of Praying Our Way Forward
The Mississippi Conference is leading the week of Praying Our Way Forward October 22- 28. Faith communities within the Mississippi Conference are not only invited but encouraged to pray daily for the church's effectiveness in fulfilling our mission of making disciples and for the outcome of the work of the Commission on a Way Forward.
Conferences have been asked to unite in prayer for God's leadership to guide us effectively in fulfilling the mission of the church. Clergy, laity, congregations and small groups across the denomination are asked to pray for God's guidance. The Mississippi Conference has provided resources below for the week of prayer for those who desire to participate.
There will also be brief meditation videos sent out conference-wide daily via e-blast, social media and the conference website throughout the week of October 22.
