Resurrection Blue Springs, Greetings on this beautiful Friday morning. I’m curious to know how many of you took Pastor Scott’s invitation on Sunday to intentionally pause and ponder the question, “Where have I seen God’s power and presence today?” Pastor Scott suggested this as a simple way to experience God more fully in the ordinary day to day life. This morning I have experienced God already in the beauty of the scene out my back window with the changing leaves fluttering in the breeze and in the face of the amazingly faithful man that I am fortunate to share my life with. These glimpses of God are everywhere around us if we only pay attention.
I remind you that Saturday we have two teams heading out to serve in our community. The Christmas in October team will be doing home repairs at 2620 Garfield in KCMO and another team will be providing volunteers for Drumm Farm’s City Slickers Hoedown, an event to raise funds for the Farm’s Center for Children and two other great charities; Variety - who provides adaptive equipment to children with special needs and Water4, which works to provide sustainable clean water in communities globally. I see God’s presence in those of you who devote your time to these serving efforts as well. Thank you!!
Pastor Scott Chrostek will conclude our ‘Ordinary’ series preaching a message on God who is in all things and through all things. He’ll revisit the familiar stories of Elijah and Jacob and talk about how we might learn to experience God's power in unlikely places, everywhere we go. There will be some great practical information about how we might strengthen our daily relationship with God. We’ll also be handing out a practical tool at the end of each worship service to help you continue to uncover God's power and presence in a daily fashion. We will also share about opportunities to aid in the Puerto Rico relief efforts as well as provide an update on ways to serve in a disaster relief capacity for areas affected by the hurricanes. For more information about upcoming disaster relief trips, you can also visit our website at cor.org/disasterresponse.
Have a great day!
Pastor Penny
