The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Blue Springs of Blue Springs, Missouri, United States - Pastor Penny Ellwood's Enote for Friday, 20 October 2017
Friday, October 20, 2017

Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I hope your Friday is off to a good start. I am looking forward to this Sunday as Pastor Adam begins our new sermon series on the Reformation. October 31 is the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s historic nailing of the Ninety-five Theses in Germany, which led toward the protestant reformation as we know it today. Pastor Adam will be preaching from Rome this week as we explore what went wrong in the church that required a reformation. It’s going to be a powerful series as we learn from our past and consider what might need reforming today — in our walk with Christ or the church. Do you have a friend who loves history and/or travel? Invite them to worship with us this Sunday at 9 or 10:45 am!
We continue our partnership with the United Methodist Church in Puerto Rico, Hen House Markets, and Heart to Heart International in our efforts to provide support for our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico. We will be sending pallets of food and much-needed supplies there. You can donate online at cor.org/giveonline or text COR to 77977 on your cell phone. Follow the instructions provided and select the giving option: “Disaster Response.” You can also donate by cash or check using an offering envelope and noting “Disaster Response” on it. Visit cor.org/disasterresponse to learn more about these donations and about serving with Resurrection teams that will be traveling to Puerto Rico to assist with recovery.
This Sunday before and after worship you will also have an opportunity to support the boys in our Troop 306 Scouting program. The boys will be selling popcorn to raise funds for summer camp.
Be sure to check out the upcoming opportunities to connect to the life of the church below.
Have a great day!
Pastor Penny
